Big Smith

Big Smith is a beloved Ozarks institution from Springfield, Missouri, known for a high-energy blend of bluegrass, folk, gospel, honky-tonk, rock ’n’ roll and traditional Ozark music. Formed in 1996 by a group of first cousins, the band built a fiercely loyal following through their unmistakable family harmonies, sharp songwriting and rowdy, joyful live performances.

During their original 16-year run, Big Smith released seven albums and played roughly 1,000 shows across the United States and beyond, even taking their distinctly Missouri sound to audiences in Europe. Their songs celebrate, poke fun at and tell the stories of the Ozarks with equal parts reverence and irreverence. More than a band, Big Smith has become part of the musical fabric of southwest Missouri, carrying generations of family tradition onto the stage and making it entirely their own.
